A leading source for custom machining, fabrication, and equipment maintenance products, contracted The RPM Groups & EcoGrid Technologies to install smart LED lighting. The facility, based in Stoney Creek, Ontario, is approximately 180,000 sq. ft. and the lighting conversion was completed within two weeks.

Scope

RPM & EcoGrid surveyed the facility and created a lighting design based on the results, completed the installation, including 120 bays and strips.

Solution

The smart LED conversion provided a three-month return on investment.
Prior to the smart LED installation, the facility used approximately 122,192 annual kWh.
After the conversion, it used approximately 24,638 annual kWh, or an 80% reduction, verified by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
On average, illumination was about 53% higher throughout the production facility after the installation.
The customer saved an estimated $21,000 annually.
